  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Observing and working with various members in my teams on their PEW's and projects, ensuring that the customer is satisfied. The day to day scenario could include: troubleshooting, network maintenance, SAC testing, scripting, config writing, network topology creation etc. Apprentice duties separate from my operational role always comes back into the picture as well: Volunteering, visits, work experience & charity events.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program so far, I am still in my first year of my apprenticeship so I look forward to some more opportunities, however I have been pleased with what I have seen so far. Although I think it would be the icing on the cake if a particular opportunity was given to us apprentices on our Apprentice team, to be given opportunities to go abroad, where we could possibly even visit other BT sites across the world!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would like to think that it is vey good, however the organizational structure of the company has been constantly changing recently, with many big changes to M&B and management. The One BT plan also has it's own impacts on the company as a whole so It does not always stay the same.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have received a lot of support since starting out with BT. me and the other new apprentices have been looked after and nurtured well so that we could grow in confidence and step out individually into the wider BT world of opportunity. I am very happy with how I have been treated as it genuinely felt like my employer cared for my future and learning here and he wanted to do nothing but help push me for just that.,

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Support is available to us in after school hours or during if we book using the intranet in advance. I have not yet personally requested for any support in regards to my Uni work but that is because I only officially started the University course in January and have had annual leave in between as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Because it can sometimes provide knowledge of understating in that certain area of expertise, meaning that you can then apply your new knowledge to your field of work. My role is heavily IT computer related, so I benefit from all the Information Technology lectures from my tutors that reveal historic and informative information on the topic. (e.g. TYCP/IP Model)

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, many. Charity events from football competitions, cycling, running events, other sports, visits to other corporations to see their facilities and processes, annual trip to a nearby church outside of the BBC for the annual carol service, annual Gradventure UNICEF charity event for the apprentices to raise money abroad for charity..

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • If BT continue to treat it's employees with the best and most care they can then the business will continue to grow influential employees that will be very successful and possibly crucial for BT in the future. BT is very lax and does a lot of good work for charity, it provides a lot of working opportunity which I think especially for young people around my age that this is extremely important.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Don't give up, fix up CV to the best you can make it. make the ffort to form your own way of communication with the place of choice. research that business and work field, start to grow your own background knowledge to make your self indispensable to your employer, and the more you show them you know, the better chance you will have.
