  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am given tasks and incidents to sort out while doing data patches for other clients. Tasks are given too me through a system where I can then work on each incident for the project. Further more there are plenty of developing tasks that I currently shadow people on but will be doing myeself soon enough

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills like different coding methods and a lot of things about efficiency and proper ways to deal with clients and client information. Further more I have learnt etiquette in a work place, remaining professional and also asking for help whenever I need it instead of waiting for someone to see my struggling for example.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thought the programme was interesting and fun, I met some very nice people including the coachs and other students who I still speak to even after the communication part of the programme. Some of the programme felt fun but other bits felt quite boring and quite drawn out. However overall I did enjoy the experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I thought that the programme was fairly well organised but It didn't hold much structure in my opinion, it kind of felt fairly free flowing which might not be a bad thing but I would have preferred something clear cut that I could refer too whenever I needed to remind my self of what I was doing.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieved all the help I could from my colleagues and they managed to give me a few pointers when coding on how the best route is to a solution etc. At the moment it is very easy for me to ask my colleagues questions and advice on how to do things so overall I get very good support

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have recieved a good amount of support so far from my training provider. When you ask them to help or give you a hand with something you might not understand they will usually either message you and try find the issue or sometimes go on a call with you and explain.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the training massively helps in my performance while acutally doing the real job. An example of this will be with SQL, in my apprenticeship projects we worked with SQL using it to connect to databases and manipulate data. I do a of SQL in acutal projects so it helped boost my knowledge instantly.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of different extra-curricular activities to get involved in. For example I was able to get the chance to go Go Karting with some members which was very fun. I haven't attended many extra curricular opportunites but they do many things like football, lunch, charity events and more.

  • 9a. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that CGI values the members which is quite important to me. Further more my experience has been quite welcoming in my office where everyone talks to eachother and I am included this also goes with feeling safe to talk to people which I genuinely do in the office.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • I would advise to get a bit more involved with the apprentices and see what the are doing in the apprenticeship so that you can find out someone who could potentially give them a hand with things if it feels overwhelming. Other than that I think that CGI are doing a good job.
