  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I am a house keeper / laundry. Everyday I either work in the laundry, collecting the residents dirty clothes. Washing the clothes, drying the clothes and ironing the clothes. Then putting the clothes away. The days I'm not in the laundry I clean the residents Bedrooms and bathrooms and main toilets and bathrooms. I bleach the toilets and sink and then with the washroom cleaner I clean the shower and anything else in the bath room. Then I mop the bathroom floor. Then when I clean the bedroom I clean the windows, window ledge, tv and the t.v. unit. And then once that is done I Hoover the bedrooms and the corridors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working at The Cedars I have learnt a lot. From washing clothes to cleaning bedrooms to shampooing carpets. I have learnt how to wash / dry and iron clothes. Also I've learnt how to clean a bedroom and a bathroom using the right cleaning substances. I've also learnt how to hoover the stairs in a safe way.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot. It's a very rewarding job as I am helping the elderly. Doing things for them what they can no longer do. It makes me happy that I'm making other people happy too. Seeing the residents smile once I've cleaned or washed there clothes is the best.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme was well organised until I had a new trainer [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] as I feel like she doesn't really know what she's doing. At first she put me on the wrong qualification. I started my apprenticeship on October 1st 2018. My first trainer was [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and she signed me up to the apprentiship on the 12th October 2018 and then when [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] left I had [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] as a trainer and then she said I wasn't signed up and then she signed me up again on the 18th January 2019. And then on the 15th March she signed me up again? [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] hardly leaves me any maths and English to do so on my college days I have nothing to do.

[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] everyday without of fail always makes me feel welcome in the care home making sure I'm settling in. I've settled in very well at The Cedars.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get alot of support from [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. She comes out and visits me every month with out a fail. She makes sure that I have settled in and if I feel like something isn't right she fixes It for me. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] helps me with my maths and English if she knows I'm struggling.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me with my role at The Cedars. It gives me good tips and reminders on what to do when I'm at work. I can always go on E-learning to refresh my memory on the House keeping And laundry role. It shows me health and safety tips too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As it has just been apprenticeship week me and the other 2 apprentices have put together 'Help the homeless appeal' so we got loads of women's and men's clothes and toiletries and food for the local homeless shelter. We raised a lot of things as a team and we got put into the sentinel.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Anchor Trust to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this company to a friend because if you didn't like the thought of going college you don't have to. You do maths and English in your job role. Working at the cedars is a really rewarding job. So you want to come to work because you are helping the elderly.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anchor Trust?
  • I would advice people to make sure you are ready to socialize with the residents and getting shouted at by the residents and just take it with a pinch of salt as the residents don't know what they are actually shouting at you. One minute they can be nice the next they can be horrible.
