  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme massively. It wasn't too challenging, it didn't distract me from developing hard skills whilst at my workplace. I had an amazing/brilliant teacher and great classmates. We were able to communicate in a friendly way. The environment was generally very nice to learn in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was organised very well. Every lesson was set out very well, we always knew what we were going to be doing that day and for the future lessons. We also had a brilliant structure that we followed daily. The teacher would run us through what to do and what step of the programme we had to be at by a certain date.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support and additional days if required. Although additional days were never neccersary it would of helped me a lot. Other employees are also able to help and give information from their experience. My manager was also brilliant and let me complete parts of my work as I was working.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a lot of support. He was always there to help me and provide information relating to my course. For example he could answer anything from my programme at the drop of a hat. He could give me hints or answers whenever I needed them. He also knew how to dividide his time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to perform in my role better and better every single day. I picked up some valuable information that I still use even though I have finished my apprenticeship. For example I learnt some safety skills which I use every day, I also tell my colleagues about them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We occasionally go for a beer after work on a Friday, or a party if someone is leaving. There are lots of emails about events that get sent to me although I am yet to go to one. Once I have gained some more experience I will. No sports teams though.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a fantastic place to work. I love the freedom aspect of my job. As long as I am safe and do all of my work I can take the time to clean my van sort out my stores for the next week and generally prepare myself which is great.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • I would tell them to not worry about gaining experience before. I would let openreach provide all the training and learn skills from the experienced employees. I would also not worry about the interview as if you will fit in the role they would select you. That is what I believe anyway.
