  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role as a technician is to service, maintain and repair the vehicles that are brought into our workshops. you can never fully describe a working day in this trade as every day is different. One day you could be just servicing and the next you could be taking apart a gearbox or engine.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed lots of new skills. when I come into this trade I had little mechanical experience. but now I know a lot more about how a truck works and how engines are built and what makes them work. The other main thing I have gained from all this is confidence. I started this in august 2015, scared to say a word. Now i have no issues talking to anyone.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the program a lot. I really can not fault the program. I have always been looked after and if I ever had an issue with any part of the program, it would be sorted instantly. I would recommend this program to anyone trying to get into the trade.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the program was will organised and the structure of the course was well laid out. you had time to learn bits and then put it into practice in the workshop. You will always have someone in the workshop teaching you and making sure you're doing the job correctly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received plenty of support when I needed it from the company. my manager helped me out where possible and my work colleagues always helped me out when I was struggling in the workshop. if they saw me struggling they would always point me in the right direction and teach me the correct way to do a job.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I also received plenty of support from my training provider. They always came in and helped with my paper work and obtaining job cards. if there was ever an issue I could easily phone them and ask them for help on the phone. They also have a easy to use online website where you upload your job cards too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is the reason I know everything I know today and it had got me where I am today. I would be able to do this job correctly without this qualification. it has been on of the best decisions of my life. The great thing about it is that you never stop learning and pushing yourself.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of events you can go too. For example Imperial commercials and DAF are always advertising for apprentices and other work roles. They hold events to advertise these and you can always be apart of them. you can show your knowledge and skills and talk to lots of people

  • 9a. Would you recommend MOTUS Commercials to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would defiantly recommend it. The apprenticeship is one of if not the best one to be on and the opportunity's when you have finished are endless it is a worldwide known apprenticeship. I can't fault this apprenticeship it was defiantly the best decision I have made and I do not regret.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MOTUS Commercials?
  • I would apply as soon as possible and make sure you show willing and don't pretend you're someone you're not. We would rather see someone who come in and shows he can get his head down and work and earn their right the be here rather than someone who says and thinks they know everything.
