  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working at Arup I have been given a huge number of opportunities which has allowed me to gain new skills and supporting my college course, as well as discovering new parts of the business and parts of HR. I have been in some tough situations which has meant I have had to think above and beyond and discover skills that I have never used before as well as being able to use old skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme, there are a number of modules that cover a number of topics and allow me to broaden my knowledge across the board. By learning whilst working it has meant I have started to build my career at an young age, as well as being able to constantly but the knowledge I have learnt through my college work into practice in a real life situation on a regular basis.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised but also very flexible to ensure that it fits in with my requirements and needs, making it easy for me to find the time to learn and also complete my work. It is clear what needs completing and when it will need to be done by, but the course and my college tutor are also very understanding that I am working full time and 'life happens' at times if I am struggling to complete the work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive, I have monthly catch-ups with my line-manager to ensure the work that I am doing is suitable and is meeting the needs as well as checking to see if there is anything more that I need to do to complete college to a good standard . However, I believe that there is a lot of work that needs to be done at Arup as a whole to develop the Apprentice programme and also support the apprentices in the firm.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification is helping me as it is giving me the opportunity to get involved in more projects as well as having the chance to carry out research on the topics to fit in with the college work requirements. Through being training in certain areas it is also given me more confidence to go above and beyond when putting my qualification into practice.
