  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in HR, this involves communicating with employees, answering any queries they may have. I advise employees and managers on basic policies and procedures. I manage Absence, arranging meetings, composing and sending a range of different letters. I analyse data and statistics on absence and create spreadsheets and tables.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well organised, I have a table of all of my roles and responsibilities within my job, and I have a weekly team meeting with my Line Manager to go through anything I need to ask about my workload or general things to see how I am getting on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a call with my learning support tutor every 6-8weeks to talk through my assignments and ask any questions I have. I also can email my tutor if I have any questions or concerns throughout my course. I have training webinars where they go through each module. The support is good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it helps me perform slightly better, but overall so far it hasn't really had an impact. I think this is because I have only just started my course in January so I have only had one Assignment so far. So I haven't really been involved much yet. I think it will improve the more the course goes on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As I only started in November 2018, I am still not fully aware of everything Unilever Leeds has to offer, extra - curricular wise yet. I know they do Christmas parties, and they offer Christmas activities for employees children at Christmas to take them to a pantomime. However I am not sure of anything else they do as of yet.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • I would advise that when applying for a job at Unilever to ensure they research the company, research the job role they are applying for. I would say to be confident and prepare a lot for the interview process. I would say stay calm and collected, focus on the job role you are applying for.
