  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role usually involves working with engineers to produce technical drawings using CAD software. Having some input into the design aspects of each project I work on. • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Being an apprentice at Arup has made me a much more rounded person, constantly contributing to my academic knowledge, work based skills such as CAD, understanding of design principles and my confidence. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Being a degree apprentice is a lot more hard work than it is fun and games. Finding time to study whilst working full time is tricky, but not impossible. Although working in the industry does give me access to people who will have answers to any questions relating to my studies.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The management behind organising a large team of apprentices is mostly very good, but being the first cohort through the degree apprenticeship sometimes communication between work managers and University is difficult.
