  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills. I have developed a great understanding of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. I also have learnt to communicate well face-to-face and virtually. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is enjoyable but it can depend on what line of business your rotation will fall into, but generally as an apprentice you will be given a set number of choices and it is up to you to decide which may be best suited for you and your development. It can be stressful at times, especially in Project Management but this comes with the job and the support is normally there if you ever find it hard to handle.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Project Management apprenticeship within BT is reasonably new so at the beginning there was a few teething problems, especially with fitting us in areas that were suitable to our development and substantial for acquiring evidence for the portfolio. As time had gone on it has got much better and anyone following with probably have a far smoother experience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Generally I have received good support from my managers but it does depend. Some managers are very busy most of the time and may not even be based in the same building. In this situation, it can be demotivated and you may want face to face support more often then not, especially when new to the program

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider QA has given quite a bit of support, which has been helpful. Every 4-6 weeks a skills coach from QA comes to check the progress and gets an update from the apprentice on how the work environment is going for them. This is good as its a separate point on contact in case you have any issues on the program and feel awkward bringing it up with your Line Manager or colleagues.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The classes you take with QA are helpful I knowing the correct methodology and practice to use when in your role at BT. They take you through mostly waterfall but also touch on Agile methodology. The tutors have a lot of experience in Project Management and are available to answer any question you may have outside of the learning too
