  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Involves me providing end to end fibre connection for businesses. It involves me working in all sorts of weather, sun, rain or snow. Work starts at the customer and goes through the external network and back to the exchange. No day is ever the same as obstacles vary day to day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, they include and not limited to cabling, working in a manhole, climbing a pole, working underground, working on a rooftop, working in confined spaces. I have also developed my existing skills such as my maths, English and ICT skills along with DIY skills. Love it

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This course has been very enjoyable from start to finish and I continue to love what I do. It is one of the best courses I have done as it involved a lot of hands on work a well as theory. One of the best part was meeting differentnt people.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course was very well Structured from start to finish despite the huge task they had on hand. First few months involved a lot of training followed by buddying. We then had one day a week to complete our apprenticeship which was more than enough time and with plenty of support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There was plenty of support from day one and there is still support available now. The first few months the were trainers hands on and a phone call away if we needed any help or had any questions. When I went live I also had ample support when and as I needed it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received plenty of help. Whenever I was stuck the trainer would help use if contact was made replies were given back very swiftly in a Timely manner. There was not any one time I could say there was no help available in completing the course. I would love to do more.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training has helped me significantly. It has enabled me to carry out my work competently and confidently. It has equipped me with the necessary skills and tool required to complete my job on a day to day basis. I cannot ask for any more support than I have received in completing the course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many activities available such as football teams and online fantasy football amongst some of the things. As a team we also host events to keep the team as one. It is really a great opportunity and great company to be in right now. Cannot wit to see what comes next.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is the future and the company is very helpful and training staff and they also look after their staff where you can get free broadband and perks at work which include discounts in cinemas and lots of other retailers. It is a job for life that gives you complete job satisfaction.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Just be yourself and be prepared to work in all sorts of climates, whether that it is rain, snow or the sun or even at heights. It is definitely one of the best places to work with lots of opportunities and progression available at hand. Apply today and you won’t regret it. Beats retail .
