  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis i am required to go out to client sites and assist with audit like tasks. these can either be in relation to the year end or a selected interim period. The aim is to gain assurance over the financial statements provided by the client. This is through substantive analytical procedures and inquires of management

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • there are many aspects to the programme i am currently on. there is the apprenticeship side and the professional qualification side. The professional aspect provides useful insight into the world of accounting and i am able to regularly apply the knowledge i pick up at college. however the apprenticeship side is a waste of time and adds no value anywhere

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • there are 2 sides to the programme i am currently on. there is the apprenticeship side and the professional qualification side. the professional qualification side is very rigid and well structured, i know when i am in college when my exams are months in advance and what is expected of me. however, and maybe because its not clear why we are doing it the apprenticeship isnt well organised at all

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, we are allocated set days to go to college and never expected to work during this time. we are reminded regularly that college and our professional qualification come first. We also get the week of an exam off work fully paid and are able to buy extra holiday to book additional days off.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is a lot of material and support offered from BPP. We are often in college for a 2 week period during which we go through a lot of the content with some questions left to do as homework then return after a few weeks for a recap session and a mock which highlights the areas for improvments we also have a coach individually assisgned and alot of access to online materials

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Audit and accounting require a deep technical knowledge, along with the application of that knowledge. Through the qualification we learn to do this in a really productive way and learn about the industrys standards and how they apply to business and the effects there would be without these. This aids in audit and providing an unqualified opinion
