  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am part of a team that focuses on internal security rather than the security of companies we regulate. My day to day tasks include sorting through phishing emails, responding to questions and giving advice to people if something goes wrong. As I have been here nearly 6 months, I am beginning to be more independent in my day to day role and I am given more responsibilities every day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills here as well as developed many existing ones. for example, I have developed my social skills e.g. speaking clearer by doing presentations to my department. This has allowed me to be more confident. As well as this, I have improved my IT skills which means I am able to fulfil my role better as well as using it off the job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I give my programme a 10/10 as so far it has been really interesting. At this point, I have not started with the webinars for my course yet as this programme has a later start date from others. However, being able to come in and learn about the job for 3/4 months before I actually start the course has helped massively.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • To start with it was very unorganised, as to start with I got told the wrong start date and it seemed to take BPP ages for all my documents to be sent to me and after I returned them it took ages for them to check over them. however, now I have been sent all the correct document, it has a lot more structured and organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer gives me a lot of support, if I'm stuck with anything I know there are a number of people I can talk to. In my department everyone is especially supportive and both my apprenticeship manager and day-to-day manger help me with anything I need help with, they also make sure I have all the study material I need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Although I have been given a "skills development coach", they have only introduced themselves to me 2 days before the webinars start, which in my opinion is not a great amount of time especially as they will be with me through the whole course. As well as this BPP have been really slow at answering any questions I have. However, when they do answer it is usually very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Doing my qualification alongside my role has helped me to actually understand why I do things day-to-day. Rather than just doing them because I have to. It has also helped me when I have a problem as I understand what I can do to better the situation and I am able to suggest ideas more frequently.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, Every month we have a sports and social newsletter, that gets sent around to everyone to inform us of any extra-curricular activities, such as football (both women's and men), theatre tickets, badminton, running, singing, etc. there are many clubs I can join. My department also holds some activities. as well as all of these, we have a gym that we can access whenever we want.

  • 9a. Would you recommend FCA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a company that cares a lot about the welfare of it's employees. It has many benefits that are in company policy and benefits that you can choose through the year. They are also very supportive if you have an issue. They are a great company to work for.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to FCA?
  • I would say to be yourself and to not be shy as everyone here is really friendly and everyone supports each other. Also, if you have any questions about your role/position to ask whoever your contact is as they will be more than happy to help and they may give you some tips.
