  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is formed of 4 rotations across the business gaining experience in HR, sales, Supply chain and Marketing. In these roles we get exposure to operational tasks and project management. In my current role I am working on a KitKat project and working with the co manufacturer for Nestle.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes! Over the past 2 years, I have developed many skills including presenting - I get to do this almost on a daily basis! I have also developed new and vital skills like stakeholder management - this is crucial in the world of business because having strong relationships with the people that I work with and the senior leaders really helps with development. Nestle are always trying to find ways to help individuals improve.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The company culture within Nestle is great and I really feel like I am given opportunities to be part of large scale projects and impactful work. The mix between work and university studies is a great balance and everybody within work is very friendly and supportive. It most certainly meets all of my expectations for the scheme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The scheme is well organized, we are given plenty of time before our roles to put meetings in with future line managers and teams to get our heads around the role and work that is going on. Sometimes there is room for improvement around communications from our academy team, however I feel there is a good level of support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received good support from Nestle being able to attend some fantastic events through the academy. I have been able to attend events with senior leadership and work closely with the charity partnership. Sometimes Nestle could support us on a better personal level / understanding personal situations that come up.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • This is sometimes more limited given that there is a little confusion on certain aspects of our scheme. Outside of that confusion the training provider is very good at giving us updates and information that needs to be shared. I think the relationship that we have with our training provider is great.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think there is certainly added value with this training, as we get to learn key concepts and academic understanding that sometimes gives us a better understanding for work. On the flip side I do sometimes feel that the academic work doesn't always reflect the work as there is not always model following.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, Nestle really tries to push social events across the scheme with our cohorts and our teams. Whether that is going for drinks, dinner or even catch up or team events like escape rooms. These really add a lot of value to our scheme which is good and helps us have a good moral.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Nestle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Nestle is a great company that offers some great apprentice and graduate schemes. They are very supportive and allow us to do some great work on well known brands and develop a good understanding of what is going on across the company. I think they really value us as apprentices.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • I would give others the advice to make sure that you are a well rounded individual that is happy to embrace the world of work and how a big company operates. They need to be ready to take real responsibility and prepare to go on a great learning curve at a young age!
