  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently in my marketing role and on a day to day basis I complete sample orders for customers and internal stock. I co ordinate meetings with external agencies for artwork designs on products and prizes. I approve brand items and have to check for mistakes. I am currently working on a new web page for a new product launch.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i have learnt so much. Alongside massive developments as a person and growing into an adult environment and working life. I have also developped skills in emailing people, communication is key and being able to structure emails depending on who they go too - eg people higher up in the organisation.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme has given me a once in a lifetime opportunity to get real life work experience alongside getting a degree. I have time spent in different roles in order to work out what i prefer the most. I love the programme i am on and the people i meet and talk too everyday.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have a well structured scheme with 6 month rotations in organised placements and detialed time in at uni every 6 weeks for academic learning. I feel this is slightly more disorganised and a lot of people within the business do not know what we officially need to do for part of our uni course.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a lot of support on a daily basis from my manager and the team around me. we always work together in order to get tasks done efficiently. I also recieve support when things outside work are a struggle and i am allowed time to work from home. These coaching methods help me to grow.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Not much support. Other than the week at uni we have little to no communication with anyone. It is often hard trying to work out who is best to speak to about certain issues and getting a reply from people is often harder. This is the one area i need more support in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I dont really feel these make much impact other than in my assignments and presentations. I always find i have a lot of real life experiences and examples to talk about in my assignments which relate to the question. As nestle is such a big company it has likely been through any issues/examples given.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not really. we have a lot of conferences and team meetings weekly, these are often to discuss work. Outside of work there isnt anything to get involved with. However i live so far away from my workplace that i dont spend much time in the area after work so wouldnt know what there is.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Nestle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • For young people it is an amazing company to work for, you have responsibility given and a lot of it. there are a lot of young people at nestle and they operate many young person schemes to improve development. For a first job this is the support you need for the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • Be yourself, nestle looks for genuine, confident, friendly team players. Dont try and be someone youre not. Grades and subjects studied at school dont make a difference so pick things you enjoy doing not what will look good on an application. Being able to adapt to situations and adapt yourself to deal with them.
