On a day to day basis I process invoices, expenses and credit card reconciliations. I also raise weekly payment runs to pay our suppliers. I also do monthly payment runs for the freelancers. I help set up suppliers on our system and help assist the production team with any accounts queries.
This apprenticeship has allowed me to improve my excel skills as an excel course was provided. I have further developed my organisational skills to ensure I can handle my responsibilities and execute them in a timely manner. I have also gained my Level 2 AAT Qualification and I am working towards gaining Level 3.
The programme is very enjoyable. It is a fantastic learning environment with supportive colleagues willing to answer questions and share their knowledge. Not only is there support at work, there is also a good support system from my training provider. There are also opportunities to network through events such as the UK Finance Offsite
It is quite organised as there a lessons every two weeks with your coach to work towards your qualification. There is also quarterly progress reviews between your coach and line manager to talk about your progress as well as any queries you may have. You always get trained thoroughly before being given new tasks and responsibilities.
There is a very strong network of support. My colleagues are approachable and very helpful. My colleague is very experienced and thoroughly trains me by allowing me to shadow and take notes and then allowing me to practise. I am encouraged to ask any questions if I am unsure or need more guidance.
There is a class every two weeks with a coach to study for the qualifications. We are provided with textbooks and online resources and we our welcome to email our teacher with any questions. Our training providers also provide revision sessions to get extra help and breakfast clubs to have designated time to complete coursework uninterrupted.
The AAT qualification helps improve your understanding about the job role and provides background knowledge for you to apply on a daily basis. The qualification allows you to learn the theory behind the task you complete and why certain tasks are executed in a certain way. You also gain more knowledge about the industry.
Every week on Thursdays we have company drinks which allows everyone to socialise in the office. We have also had networking events such as the UK Finance Offsite which gave the opportunity to network as well as listen to guest speakers, and reflect on challenges you have experienced at work.
