  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • My work experience involved meeting companies and challenging their views and visions. I also completed tasks by reviewing companies annual report and taking out key information needed. I was also given the opportunity to shadow a fund manager and see how they work and function within a business environment as it gives an insight into management.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • Over the course of the week I have been able to learn and develop new skills within the placement such as communication skills, time management as I have learnt how to manage my time by getting things done and attending meetings on time and lectures as well as career help.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed the work experience as I have been able to lean from different people and see how they have been able to get the job that they have today and what career path they had to take to be able to work in investments as there is a variety of ways to get the job that you want.

  • My work experience was well organised as I was given a time table to show me where I needed to be at a specific time period, this has also helped me to improve my time management skills and the employees here are always around to help you get to the place you needed to be as It may be difficult to understand a place you haven't been before.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a lot about the company M&G prudential as I recently just found out that M&G prudential is a merged company of M&G Investments and Prudential. To work in a place like this is a great opportunity as it enhances your options into a open-minded place.

  • The work experience helped me to decide my future career path as in the future I would like to be a computer engineer and during the work experience I have realised that I don't need to have a fixed plan for my future because there are other career options I can take to achieve my goals.

  • For this work experience I was reimbursed for my travel, I find this very helpful as I could be given the money back to be able to re top up my oyster card for travel when I return back to school that way I wouldn't have to pay double for travel within the weeks.

  • There were a lot of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees and listening to how they got to where they are today and how their work in the company benefits others as well as individuals and companies. The other employees here have helped me be more open minded in the career paths I want to follow.

  • I would recommend this company to my friends as everyone here is very friendly and they would take time out of their day to help you and give you an insight of work life as well as getting close to you to befriend you not only to come over and give you work to complete


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • To all those who apply for M&G investments the advice I would give is to ask a lot of questions because by asking questions you will be able to learn more than what people just tell you and you will be able to challenge the employees as well as finding out what you need to know.
