As an apprentice with Telefonica O2, I moved around the business every 6 months into a new team. I completed 4 placements, in various areas of the business. I worked in Service Management, Networks and IT. Daily tasks vary hugely per team and placement, I have done work from analysing customer experience to developing the new ecommerce checkout solution for the online shop.
More than I can list. To name a few technical buzzwords - VBA, Java, HTML, CSS, PHP, JUnit, Jenkins, Agile, Selenium, Cucumber BDD, TDD, Mongo DB, Business Objects, MapInfo, Amdocs, PKI, Checkpoint Firewall management, Linux. I took my ITIL v3 course and qualification. Also did a couple of vendor specific courses such as Tufin certification. My confidence and soft skills have dramatically improved and I also completed level 3 IT qualifications.
The work was varied and interesting, the teams were all lovely, company culture was overall good although sometimes politics got in the way as it does in large companies. It exceeded my expectations and I loved it.
Very... I was trusted as 'normal employee' and didn't get any discrimination.
I joined at a time where the programme was being merged with a larger youth onboarding programme called Talentum. This meant quite large changes to the programme and some of this affected us. Induction, training and support is all good.
I had no issues around this, the support was there as and when required.
Support is there as and when required.
Depends on your situation. I moved out of my parents house and was able to manage fine up in Leeds, down south in the Slough office, things are more expensive, mainly accommodation. Overall though, apprentices are paid very well.
Loads. Think Big events happen frequently and there are lots of schemes to get involved with.
Yes
Such a great opportunity && the scope for learning is incredible.
Just be yourself, no one likes a fake. The application process was quite long for me and the assessment centres are scary but fun. Onboarding was painless.
