  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at GSK, involves me participating in the daily tier, it enables us to plan the shift ahead. Most of the time I am tagged to the Kilo scale Facility. In this plant, I am trained to do batching in, quenching, seeding, crystallization, filtration and drying.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt several new skills at GSK. Since I was a student from a different course, during this programme I have the opportunity to bring my classroom theories to life. Also get the chance to have hands on experience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This course, has given me the chance to work and study both full time. It also allows me to work shift, and day slots. Apart from that it I get to have the best of both worlds, technician duties and office duties.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is slightly cramped, but the structure of the school and study period is very clear.

  • My supervisors do try their level best to provide me with sufficient time to toggle/manage both school and work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Work and school is not directly related, but they do try their level best to correlate both the things so that I can understand it better.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The school portion has given me a good background to start building my foundation in the chemical engineering field.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. My company makes the effort to plan events such as family day, movie night, Chinese new year, Christmas, bake sales, and so much more every year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend GSK to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a really good platform for any body in the science field to understand and learn about all the various processes. It also acts as a good training area to grasp basic concepts and convert it to life long skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • Make your passion known. Persevere and work hard. Adaptation is a very important skill in this company.
