  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a commercial apprentice to the multiples team with Tulip. I work on Iceland and Sainsbury's accounts, which involves updating systems, running reports, working with any day to day issues, attending meetings and needs of the customers etc. I work with lots of different site departments as well as central departments to.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills within my role such as communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with our customers. I interact with other colleagues as well as customers over email and in person. I have also learnt many computer skills such as running data, analysing data and reporting back

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship very much. I love that I am learning, gaining qualifications as well as gaining work experiences. I am very happy I decided to do a business apprenticeship. It is a very beneficial course to complete as the qualification can help me in the future to gain more opportunities.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is fairly organised and structured, I know what I have to do to complete the course as my college assessor sets this out for me. I was informed of the assignments I am required to complete for my course at the start of the apprenticeship while also being provided with the materials to help.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer on my apprenticeship. I am often asked how it is going and whether I need any support at all with any of the work I am doing. I am also provided with enough time within work to complete some college work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive an good amount of support from Walsall college as I arrange regular meetings as well as communicating over the phone and on email to access what stage I am at and how I am getting on. My college assessor is always available to contact if I need anything for my course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I am currently doing has helped me to perform better in my role as it has allowed me to gain business skills and knowledge needed, as well as learning new things. I also feel more confident as I know more things and become more involved in the business side of things.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not that I know of - There aren't any sports teams or any social activities, although this would be a good thing to have as it would bring the employees within the business together. It may be good to put together a football / netball team or some social activities such as quiz nights.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tulip to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Tulip is a great place to work and I would recommend the company to a friend. Tulip are interested in peoples development and are always wanting to improve the skills of their employees. Tulip is a friendly company with friendly employees who work really well as a team. I have been working here for 2 and a half years and I really enjoy it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tulip?
  • I would suggest to others to research the company when applying to Tulip, as well as showing they are interested in learning and developing in the role. Another tip would be to show how organised, motivated and excited you are, as well as keen to get stick in and involved.
