apprentice engineer Review

my role is a dual skilled maintenance engineer in the food and drink industry and this involves maintaining the machines with plans such as PPMs (planned, preventative maintenance) and front line repairs such as when a machine is in production and it has a break down we will go out to fix it.

during starting my apprenticeship I have learn many new skills, whilst at college I have learnt how to use a lathe, hand tools in the correct way such as filing in bench work and am now starting to learn how to use a milling machine in this block at college.

so far in my apprenticeship program I have really enjoyed what I have done as most of my work is hands on whilst I am at work, the people I have in my work place are also friendly and really helpful if ever I have and questions or need any help.

so far through the apprenticeship the program has been fairly organised and structured, we are given time tables whilst at college which have stayed the same through out bar the first week or two that we started our college block where we were being introduced and getting to know the college

whilst I have been out of college my work place have been very supportive and helped if I have needed any advice or guidance, they have also allowed free time whilst back from college at work where we could go through any of our work that we needed help on and have guided up towards the correct area to get the information from whilst still letting us learn it ourselves.

so far I have received any support that I have needed from my training provider, whilst I have been away from college they have also emailed a few work sheets towards us so we could keep refreshed with some of the work that we were doing before in the last block.

I feel that my qualification through my training provider is helpful in the work place as I have learnt little techniques and had training on machines that I will be able to take back to my work place and use appropriately such as lathe work where I could make a repair to a broken part or machine a new part that will be able to get them through production till a new part comes in.

at work there are work football teams that you can get involved in and we have social media site called yammer where people form the company can all come together and updates that are happening in the company get posted and also activities for people to get involved in are also posted on here.

I would recommend tulip to a friend because in my experience so far I have had any help that I have needed and they have a good structure for their program, they also treat their apprentices well and pay a decent wage to go with it which other places don't match.

the advice I would give is keep on track and up to date with any and all college work or projects that you have been given at work, if you have a project remember to take photos through out so that when you write it up you can insert these into your work pieces for evidence of what you have done.
