  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is diverse; in simple terms, the end goal is to complete the tax returns for a set population of assignees. The year-long process involves many tasks, including regular emails and calls to assignees regarding their own affairs, and liaising with central client offices regarding central processes such as payroll etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have always been numerically-able and literate, but have previously struggled with confidence and ownership of work and tasks. Having been in the job for a few months, I have already overcome the challenge of taking on responsibility and having the confidence to put my name to a task or set piece of work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At times, the pathway of development throughout the programme is not always clear - namely, the communication regarding our examinations and qualifications is not always set out in writing to us. This being said, the job itself is rewarding, and the people friendly and helpful. The working environment has far excelled my original expectations.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that there is a clear structure in place, but that this is not always communicated effectively or in good time to us. I understand that many of the processes are centrally-arranged and out of the hands of my employer, though I believe that greater care could be taken to inform us of the details regarding our pathway.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel that my employer gives me the greatest support that they can; from the extra examination tuition to the support of my colleagues day-to-day, I know that, whilst we are being tested intensively, my colleagues understand what is expected of me and how my day to day work should be flexible to reflect this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have been given access to online resources, and I feel that the content that the training provider teach us is relevant and necessary for the examinations that I take. The days are intense, but the content is useful and has so far helped me pass my examinations with success.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am able to apply the technical content that I have studied for my exams in the day to day working environment, and I feel that as I do the two simultaneously, both my exam attainment and my technical knowledge in the workplace improve in quality and quantity, to my advantage.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a plethora of activities to involve myself in; over the summer I am participating in a football tournament in Prague, and there are regular netball matches in the evenings after work. There are regular opportunities for me to meet clients and to engage with other individuals within the company.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The support I have been given I believe to be greater than that of individuals at other competing firms. I am challenged in my work, yet not out of my depth. I greatly enjoy the work and the working environment and am comparably well paid for someone of my age and experience.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Be yourself. Do not answer questions on applications and in interviews with the answers you believe that the firm wants to hear. If you are the correct fit, you will earn a position, excel, and enjoy yourself. The firm is full of real personalities, and that is what makes it unique and successful.
