  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my day to day role at Direct Line the things that my day consist of are taking various different calls from customers querying there insurance. The calls vary all the time as some of the can take 30 seconds whereas other can take up to an hour to solve.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are many skills that I have developed while being in this apprenticeship. One of them being communication to different ages. This is good as I am now able to speak to all different ages in the correct manor and get my point across efficiently so that the person i am speaking to understands.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The extent that I enjoy the programme varies daily as I take many calls that can be difficult however I am able to get over this as I have team around me that are able to help answer my queries. This can make my days stressful but other days can be fun.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that the programme is well organised and structured well because meetings and training time is scheduled weeks before it happens so you will always know whenever you have to do anything for the apprenticeship. Also all details for necessary websites was sent to our email with all of the details wee needed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer in many different aspects of this apprenticeship. Some of the ways that I receive this support is that I am allowed time off the phone given by my employer to be able to better in my exam for the apprenticeship degree.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support that I receive from the training provider is very helpful as they arrange may things for us (apprentices)to participate in and complete. one of the things that they do to support us is set us different tasks that we can compete so that we understand what to revise.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • From the qualification so far I have gained a lot of knowledge about insurance therefore my experiences in this job I have noticed I have used the knowledge from the book for different situations for different calls as the book has given me a lot of knowledge about insurance so sometimes I use that rather than ask my team leader.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There isn't any extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. however, this is okay as there are many benefits that the company do provide to its staff to insure that they can still get active together. This means although there is no extra curricular activities there are still things you can do as a team.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Direct Line to a friend as they are a company that care about its staff. The reason that you can tell this is because they offer many discounts on internal services and external so that you as a employee can get the best services from every company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • I would tell others applying for direct line to research into the business and fully understand them and the job role as I wasn't fully aware of the job role when I first started. Also to make sure their knowledge of insurance was at a good standard as it will benefit them for the job
