  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the procurement team therefore my focus is on supply chain management. The team and role provides me with freedom to focus on tasks/projects that I know I will excel in and find interesting; in my case, this is reporting and analysis. Not two days are the same which is really refreshing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Communication is a skill that I have developed as the role consists of different types of conversations with fellow colleagues and external suppliers. Presentation skills is another developed skill as I am required to present my new reports and demonstrate how they work. Having initiative is a fairly new skill as the freedom provided in the role requires problem solving independently.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. The role allows me to develop as I wish. The responsibility given really accelerates progression. In addition to the role the programme provides a development scheme where you attend numerous training sessions eg costumer communications, project management. Also, having the opportunity to move location and role allows you to have a broad scope of the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very structured. There is a portal exclusively for your development program, where you can book all of your training sessions. It is very straight forward to understand the programme or get answers for your queries. We have a line manager which is responsible for 30 of our experience on the programme so everything is structured and organized.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a line manager which is responsible for 30 of our experience on the programme so there is constant support if needed. However, you are not micro managed which is a benefit as you can think independently. We have a weekly surgery meeting to raise any queries or issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support. There is numerous resources online as well as physical textbooks, notes and cue cards they provide. It seems like monthly they make the effort to email me asking how I am finding my revision and the resources provided. They respond quickly if I email asking for support in anyway.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In my current role which is very commercial base. There isn't much cross over but that is because the only exams I have done are management accounting and financial account. I believe that some exams will relate to my current job role. In future roles where I have an opportunity to work in a financial environment the qualification will be strongly linked to the role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a scheme for called coffee roulette where you get put with another colleague at random and you spend 20 minutes talking about whatever you feel like. This is useful for networking with people you wouldn't get the chance to in day-to-day work. I also take part in 5 a side football and social events with my team.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Siemens is a great company as there are so many opportunities after the scheme, you are likely to find a role that suits you and remain in the company after the programme. The support, salary, benefits and social aspects of the programme and Siemens in general are above average. I'd recommend the scheme to everyone.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Siemens hire on the Siemens fit, which means you are likely to be hired by Siemens if you fit in to their core values. Have a look on the Siemens website for these and when applying remember to portray these core values. Don't panic as the recruitment process id relaxed in comparison to many and try to enjoy it.
