  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role varies on a day to basis. I am involved in varies projects including the roll out of new IFRS standards, brexit preparedness, handling accounting queries as well being involved in month and quarter end reporting. In addition to this i have been involved in different digitalization topics and the role out of this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I've learnt about technical accounting topics from hedging accounting to the recognition of new orders. More technical skills such as using SAP and other accounting software. Furthermore, training's are often provided to help learn new digitisation tools. i have also developed more basic tools such as excel.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's an enjoyable team, with exciting opportunities to develop and learn into new and different roles. I am looking forward to new challenges that new placements will bring. Furthermore, there is a great networking opportunity amongst graduates form all sectors, these are usually enjoyable and will provide great opportunities in the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Fairly well structured, the general route and training are very well organised. For instance, the different training's provided, graduate days and study leave provided. On some occasions there could be better structure relating to day to day tasks however, this maybe unique to my role. For instance, on a day to day basis my role and jobs change.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Alot of support, we're offered a wide range of training's. As well as have access to signing up to more optional sessions. We also have regular contact with managers/mentors to help with any queries. For example my day to day manager is always available for more technical support. My other manager is always available for support on different topics that relate to life at siemens.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have had a mixed response to this. Guidance has been provided when my manager put me in contact with a tutor, this was really helpful. He came and met with me to provide information where needed for me. I have sometimes found it difficult to receive support when trying this on my own for instance, trying to get more information or help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification is useful in giving an overview to various different topics. This hasn't always applied in my day to day role, however, im confident this will in the future. Currently I believe this is because i have just started my qualification and has not got into specific details yet.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are networking events available as well as opportunities to get involved in other groups/teams. For instance running, gym and football groups. As graduates we're provided with with large networking events a few times a year. Furthermore, there are other topics and projects that are often looking for volunteers.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Siemens is an exciting company with various different opportunities, as well as being a company that appears to be constantly growing this helps to make the role exciting and interesting. In addition to this we're regularly provided with training and new technologies, this helps to keep your c.v. up to date and sought after.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Digitisation and continuous improvement appear to be a constant feature in Siemens life. For instance, being aware of the latest software and hardware available to you. Showing enthusiasm to learn more things and learn with the times is important. Therefore you can adopt to new information where possible this has proved helpful so far.
