  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills and undertake new training that will be transferable into real life as well as my working life. I also enjoy being placed into a new team who work with each other to offer help and guidance with the same common aim of doing the best for our customers

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the project is well planned. Apart from the first few weeks which were spent at the lower level college learning metal working skills which wasn't at all relevant. We spent the first few weeks getting all the training out the way so we were allowed to work going forward.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my peers who have the knowledge and experience I hope to one day poses. They answer any questions I may have and try there best to guide me in the right direction. I have been fortunate enough to have some people let me shadow them around for the week so I can see exactly there specific role within the business and how each person plays a role in the bigger picture.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor at college is very helpful and is always able to answer questions I have in regards to our classwork, assessments or anything engineering in general. I feel comfortable and have enough rapport to be able o sit down with him and ask how I can improve on aspect of my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I am undertaking is a general engineering qualification so only has limited information on sewerage / assets relating to sewerage, plumbing or drainage. The parts we do cover have some relevance towards my job but it covers more general engineering. It does cover CDM2015 which looks at managing a project and contractors, this will be more relevant.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do not currently undertake any extra activities through work, I spend Tuesday evening traveling to a holiday in for my college in Wolverhampton the next day, I get back late Wednesday from college. I spend any spare time working on my HNC level 4 or NVQ level 4 qualification and I will soon be spending one day a week volunteering at the linking lives charity as well so my time outside of work is limited. I have been offered a few activities to join in (such as charity football etc.) but have not personally had the time.
