  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves providing assistance to clients who are seeking to acquire real estate assets/portfolios via direct property acquisition or indirect share acquisition. I participate in calls with the client to discuss initial structuring options and communicate with them regularly via email correspondence to provide updates on the status of the project. I assist in drafting structure reports and due diligence reports for our clients, which analyse the tax considerations of the proposed acquisition structure.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed a large variety of different skills throughout the duration of my apprenticeship. These include: -Microsoft Excel skills: I work regularly on Microsoft excel, pulling together spreadsheets for different analysis exercises, as well as for fee tracking. -Verbal and written communication skills: I have to participate in calls and email correspondence with clients/colleagues regularly, thus have improved my communication skills. -Leadership skills: I have to delegate some of my work to my junior colleagues, thus have improved my leadership skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme to a large extent. It is structured well and in my opinion, is a much better alternative to university. I am treated well by my firm and colleagues, and am granted a lot of opportunity to learn and progress in my workplace. I also have many peers who are around my age, making it more enjoyable. However, the job and programme can be challenging at times, as there are long hours.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is fairly well structured, as there is a clear fixed pathway which we follow in order to complete the programme and obtain our qualifications. However, this pathway is not always well communicated to us and I have often found myself unaware of when my next exams would be, despite chasing my HR department for a timetable.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. A lot of time and resources are spent on providing us with training and support. We are allocated both a buddy and coach from our first day on the job, and these people help us ensure we are progressing and on track to achieving our targets.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider when working toward my qualifications. I can usually contact them via email whenever I need them and receive prompt response. However, sometimes they are not very helpful with providing timely information on when I will be sitting my next exams etc.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualifications greatly help me perform better in my role, as the exams I take as part of the qualifications are very relevant to my day to day job. The exams help me to improve my technical knowledge of the business, thus allowing me to perform better in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I partake in these activities occasionally, but not very often. We do hold work socials every month, and I attend these on occasion, but I'm not too keen on these for the most part. We also often hold networking events, which I attend occasionally, but again, I only attend these occasionally.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Deloitte is an excellent firm due to its values and the way it treats its employees. We are all very closely knit in our departments, and there is always a lot of opportunity for development and progression. We are rewarded very well for our hard work and are provided with a tremendous amount of support.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Be yourself. If you get through to the interview stage, the interviewers can easily see through someone who's pretending to be someone they're not. Also, do your research into the firm. Learn about some of the different services we offer and some of the firm's recent history. Find a genuine reason why you want to join the firm, which is more than simply earning a salary.
