  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a global mobility tax analyst, I assist companies with their tax and social security compliance responsibilities in respect of their internationally mobile employees. This requires managing client expectations, coordinating work to meet client timeframes and tax authority deadlines, providing high quality deliverables and keeping up with changes in tax legislation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed the following skills during my apprenticeship so far. How to adapt to a changing work environment and keep up to date with the latest tax legislation, how to contribute effectively to teamwork and how to communicate in a business and plan a business meeting with colleagues and clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme to an extent as I have learnt a lot of skills and experienced a variety of challenges. I often feel that not enough focus is provided to the apprentices and ensuring the job is satisfactory. I can sometimes feel underappreciated and frustrated by the lack of organisation/details provided.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is some good structure and organisation to my programme. I clearly know what I am aiming towards and what skills I am learning along the way. The exams are spread out in a manageable way so it is easy to focus on revising for one at a time. However there is a long gap between the two qualifications I am studying which seems unnecessary.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely supportive especially my immediate team members and training coach and manager in Bristol. It can sometimes be hard to find out details of courses and what is the correct information however, my coach supports me with this. The central team is less supportive as we do not have as much communication from them

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider provides a medium level of support with regards to the qualifications. There has generally been a lack of communication with BPP and the apprentices are often left in the dark with regards to a timeline of events. Some courses details are provided at the last minute and I have not always been provided with support on knowing what each stage consists of. More support was provided when moving to Tolleys for the second qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have had to analyse a number of skills and behaviours recognised in the workplace and provide examples of where I have shown to achieve this. Reflecting on tasks undertaken has helped me perform better in my role. The qualification is also well fitted to my job although it is spread out so I will not be fully qualified in my role for 4 years in total.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of the Deloitte netball team which plays in a corporate league every week. We now have funding from Deloitte (although this was difficult to obtain) and we are able to hold training sessions, afford a team kit and go for a social activity. There are a couple of professional networking events but they do not always have the best turn out.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Deloitte is a really good employer and hires people with good skills, knowledge and characteristics. There is not one typical Deloitte person, a variety of people work for the firm which makes team collaborations more interesting. Deloitte try to invest in their employees and provide opportunities to do volunteering, sports activities and go to different events.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • I would say to someone applying to work at Deloitte that they should highlight the differentiating factors about themselves and show they are enthusiastic about something. Try and show an interest in the work you are applying for and show examples of where you have worked in a team environment in the past and the skills and challenges this brought.
