  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • It involved various presentation on how to build key skills for the work place. Furthermore I was also given the opportunity to network with employees at Delliote. Finally we engaged in various project based work where we had to work collaboratively. Futhermore I was also able to gain a presentation by experienced workers.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I developed communication, teamwork and presentational skills. I had also built confidence in working in a professional enviroment. I was also able to definitely build my presentation skills through many presentations through large groups of people. I also learnt how to communicate in a team through many project based work.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I enjoyed it a lot. The presenters were very engaging and made sure everyone took part. It was great to meet people who share my interest in financial services and sharing advise and tips into how to do it. I loved the presentational tasks as they pushed me out my comfort zone.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The program was very well organised. I never felt as if there was nothing to do and overall the program went very smoothly. Furthermore the staff were very friends and were able to provide clarity into what the experience entailed. However if I was to suggest an improvement would be to inform us more about the program before hand.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I definely learnt a lot about Deliotte culture as we were given presentations directly in the topic. It was clear their culture was built around being curious. Furthermore we were also given the opportunity to do a questionnaire to see if we fit into the companies culture. It was great.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • Through meeting people working in deliotte and hearing their experiences I was able to grasp a great understand of what the job was like and hence make a more informed decision. Furthermore through learning about more of what the firm does I was able to decide whether my future lays in Delliote.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • Yes I was, although the payment was severely delayed. It took about 3 months for me to receive the payment. I was payed a total of £130 for my train from Newcastle. I was surprised they were able to reimburse such a large amount but hey I’ll take the money.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Yes. I was able to meet people who were from varies ages and sectors within the firm so it was very useful to gain a diversity of opinions. However, compared to previous experiences I attended the networking opportunities were far less structured hence many students opted out. And there was as mud people

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the skills I was able to gain from the experience were definitely worth my time. Furthermore the opportunity to network with experienced hires a Delliote I was able to gain valuable advice and build connections I’m sure will be useful in the future. Also the experience provided motivation for my future.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • I would recommend that you make sure you make your application appeal to their culture of the curious. Furthermore making sure your skills are relevant to the job description and that you have relevant experience to back these points up. Additionally making sure you put your curiously across in the interview through asking questions.
