  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • When I arrive at work I help to tidy up the workshop and ensure it is safe to work in, I then do 2 steam cleans to get my 25 percent productivity in, after that I will ask my foreman who to work with and help carry out or learn a task

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learned multiple skills and developed skills, such as team working and task solving in this working environment it’s important to always concentrate aswell which before I started I struggled with but since I’ve been working my concentration skills have improved massively, my mechanical Mindset has became a lot better aswell as I have had to think how to get out of problems

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my time at the workplace as when I started I got given a tool box and got offered a forklift license, i have always wanted to become a mechanic and at work you can learn to become one as everyone their is happy to help you learn and give you advice on how to do a job

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At work everything is organised as we are a main dealer all jobs get complete in time most of the time other than the expectations that something gets worse or gets stuck as the job is being carried out however at college it is not very organised at all especially with functional skills

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get given all of my safety equipment and a base set of tools to help me get started, I also get given a mentor who I will spend most of my time working with at work to ensure I’m progressing as much as possible, my boss is very helpful aswell I can go and talk to him if I need advice, on a regular basis he will come and have a chat with me to see how I’m doing and if I’m enjoying it

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider will come into my work place every month or so yo have a review and ask for job cards from jobs I have carried out I will be asked to write them up so he can add completed work to my portfolio he will give me advice on what jobs to try and get involved in and give me advice on what to write in my job cards

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives me the all the information 100 percent correct with all safety features a step by step guide on how to do a certain job all in one area, it allows you to carry out these jobs at college on real trucks on your own so you can fully understand how to carry out a job alone so when your qualifies you will be able to do a job yourself

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes about 8 of us from the workshop side of the business go out to Airsoft at the end of every month including one of the fitters from the Volkswagen side. Some of us also regularly play foootball at the weekends to keep our fittness. Also a few of the fitters go to the gym regularly to keep fitness and strength for the job

  • 9a. Would you recommend MOTUS Commercials to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The support you get to help get this amazing lifetime qualification is great, you will never be without a job If you succeed. You will make lots of friends along the way with similar interests as you at college, from your apprenticeship you can go so much further and one day become much higher in the company if you put your mind to it


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MOTUS Commercials?
  • You must do your research on the company you may be asked this at your interview it will make you look prepared and interested in the company, you must work hard and be willing to work theirs no point dossing it will be recognised. It will take a while to be qualified but you must trust your boss and your college to get you the skills you need
