My first year was an operations role. I worked closely with my area's gate leaders, line director and shop floor engineers. I had good relationship's with my colleagues as I had to liaise with them regarding their day to day activities and how this would be booked / managed in our companies SAP programme. I had to book hours / their leave, their sickness etc and make sure it was to GE's standards.
Definitely. It improved my communication skills as I had to liaise will all different types of people, personally and on a work level (job status). It also improved my ICT skills as I had to work on different computer programmes that my company used. It improved my problem solving skills also as I had to learn how to use all different programmes and how to do my day to day skills to GE's standards.
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship with GE Aviation Wales as it allowed me to gain the relaxant experience to gain a full time position here also now. It also allowed me to network with a lot of different people and it taught me how to live in the "working world".
Very well organised / structured. My programme is three years in length and it's structured that we move different positions / job roles throughout the three years in order to gain experience in different field's within the business which is brilliant. We also complete an NVQ qualification within this time.
We receive a lot of support from our apprenticeship leaders and also, each one of the apprenticeship pupils are each assigned a college mentor / tutor that we have regular meetings with in order to complete our programmes. This also helps to know what we need to improve on and what we are currently doing well.
Alot of support. We have regular meetings with our mentor from our training provider in order to know what else we need to do to complete our programme and what we are already doing well. They also come in to our work place to conduct reviews and for us to preform our presentations to them which goes towards our qualifications / modules for our NVQ's.
My NVQ helped me to gain my full time position at GE as it allowed me to gain all my expereince and skills. I definitely know more about my industry and job role through doing my apprenticeship here. It started me off with my career for life which is great.
Yes there are. We have company events like a women's network society which hold different events both inside of work times and outside of work times which are good for networking with others. These are held in all different locations around the world and in all different venues also.
Yes
It's a really good company to work for. It's a good kick start to your future career. It allows you to gain all the skills you need and you're always taken serious here. You fit in as part of the team and there's always plenty of different opportunities for you to get involved in.
My first tip would be to make sure you work hard here and to show initiative. GE likes hard working people and people who push themselves therefore always take opportunities to showcase your skills and how hard working you can be. Take every opportunity to get involved in as much as you can.
