  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At the moment I work day to day in the drawing department, while working here I produce, update and change drawings and the 3D Computer aided Design Model that we operate with, I may also be tasked with implementing change to the model directly such and removing or changing parts

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills in my time at BAE Systems during my Apprenticeship for example I have developed my skills using Drawing and Computer aided Design software I have also enhanced my transferable skills such as communication and organisation as I frequently meet and work with new people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I greatly enjoy my program as I am given a great level of support while also being able to work quite independently this allows me to progress at a speed that best suits me and allows me to develop in a way that suits me, it also interests me greatly

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is quite well structured as my first year was spent in college and I was provide an overview of what I would be doing prior to starting my second and third years were similar with my placements being communicated to me at the end of my first year.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a vast amount of support from my employer from the recourses available to me online to the people I work with on a daily basis to the Careers team who deals with my programme to other apprentices who are there to offer advice based on there experiences here

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive plenty of support from my employer when going for qualifications from Study days before exams to time each week to completed course work or study for assessments there are also the resources at pervious apprentices have highlighted and made available to us in shared folders and on the intranet

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Yes I believe that the qualification that I have received from my Training provider has greatly benefited me in my role at BAE Systems from my college cources to internatl courses in work I have learned a lot that has allow me to become better at my job and grow as a worker.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There have been a number and it is something that there is work to improve with the creating of an apprentice council commute in order to organise and hoist such activities, however there has already been events such as charity football games and Outward Bound trips focusing on team work.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend BAE Systems to a friend as I provides an entry point into a Global company where you are able to get on hand experience while you learn all while getting paid, the staff and teams you work with do all they can to help you improve and learn aswell


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • My advice when applying to BAE Systems is to know what you are applying for, do your research before going for an interview and know a bit about the company as it shows that you are enthusiastic and ready to get involved in, also to be yourself and not try to put forward a persona that you believe is more employable
