  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently working in commercial team looking after projects. On a day to day basis this means I am talking to engineers, project managers and various other stakeholders regarding the status of the project. My task is to periodically analyse payments made by contractors and send out a response.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my time here currently up to date at Transport for London I have developed various different existing skills as well as learning many different new skills. Skills in which I have developed my knowledge in consist of word, excel and many others. The new skill which I have learnt is CAD.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme to a really good extent and one of the main reasons for this is because I continue to learn daily. As well as that you meet many different people and therefore you are able to learn off them also. You also working in very different teams.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the beginning when I started the programme it was very organised and I had real sense of direction. However, once I got 6 months through the organisation and structure level dropped severely. The structure then picked up again after my first year in transport for London as we then had a clear sense of direction........

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In terms of support we receive from the employer I believe it is to a really good standard. The employer help us a lot with our college needs as well our management course. They also provide flexibility in regards to our placement and where choose to go. This has been really helpful.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In regards to our training provider we receive a lot of support. They are always available via email and phone whenever we need any assistance. Also in regards to the training they provide I find it really useful as I always learn new stuff which I did not previously know.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I really believe that my qualification with my training provider helps me to perform better in my role. In regards to a management qualification session we undertook I was able to translate that into my role when I worked in project, programme and delivery team. It also benefited me when I was doing a mentoring.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At Transport for London there are a lot of extra-curricular activities in which we are able to get involved in at work. These vary from social activities to sporting activities. In my first year at Transport for London I joined the weekly football league and through that I was able to meet many new people.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend transport for London to a friend mainly because I have enjoyed my time here. Also it is a career path in which you are able to grow and increase as an employee and learn many different new skills as well as developing the skill sets you already have,


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • The tips or advice I would give to others applying to Transport for London is that they should ignore the stereotypes around the company, and that Transport for London is a great opportunity in which you can enjoy and learn. I would recommend transport for London to people who are looking for an opportunity to study as well as gain experience.
