  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role within Unilever is a project coordinator. On a day to day basis i host meetings with clients, i run daily project meeting. My work is heavily project based. I have the opportunity to lead my own projects and take manage and create the Project management office for larger projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop my communication and leadership skills because i host meetings and leading my own projects allows me to manage people to drive for result. The skills i have gained from my apprenticeship work have also been extremely beneficial and i have definitely implemented it into my daily work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme, my day to day role allows me to develop and i have a great responsibility within my team. Not only that i do activities outside my role such as outreach ambassador and the apprentice newsletter which allow me to grow my network. We also have many social events which are always good fun.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured, there is a clear set of topics i will cover in my duration of my apprenticeship, this allows my manager to create the work so i can implement my learning into my day to day role. We have webinars and classroom session to support the apprentice learning.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive so much support from my employer, i have weekly meetings with my manager to catch up. I also have a mentor who provides me further support and advice. I have regular meetings with my employer regarding my well being and progress on my apprenticeship course. Overall a very positive experience.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from my training provider. I given a tutor who helps coordinate all my apprenticeship. My tutor has been amazing. We have classroom sessions externally where we learn about specific topics, along with monthly webinars to also learn topics. I have been supported throughout my apprentice by my training provider and i can also ask for help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The skills i have gained through my qualification have been vital in my job progression and development. My qualification has taught me project management methodologies such as waterfall and agile which are vital in delivering projects. Implementing the knowledge have gained has been of great benefit to both me and the business

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within Unilever there are many extra curricular activities to take part in. I am part of the Unilever football team, i also help out at open days for Unilever apprenticeships and go into local school to raise awareness of apprenticeships. Within my apprentice group and work team we organise many social events which are always fun!

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great company to work for, with an amazing reputation. The skills and experience i have gained are life changing and will allow me in the future to progress my career as a project manager. The support i have received during my apprentice has always made me feel at home


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • The application process at Unilever is very competitive, however there is a clear structure. Throughout the process there is clear message of what impact can you make to the business, so it is important during the assessment centre to talk about things you have done and achieved eg: Duke of Edinburgh. Always be confident in yourself
