  • My role is as a chef is to deliver food quickly, prepare and cook food, ensure stock is accessable quickly, wash dishes, keep high standards of hygiene in the kitchen which involves sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning the fryers, ovens and fridges.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Coming from having near no experience cooking, I can now serve the whole menu. Along the way I had the opportunity to work with different chefs who have each taught me alot. Key skills include, staying calm, being focused, and physical skills such as how to correctly use a knife.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme has been fantastic and I am grateful for having the chance to be a part of a great community in the hospitality industry. Within the pub we have all types of people and personalities and its a joy to be around them all.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Apart from the day to day jobs we are given online work. This occurs in stages as to not overwhelm you so you can focus on the job at hand. The online work is really good because you learn interesting facts and new ways to do things in your job.

  • My employer has been very helpful. Always ther if I need to ask questions and an easygoing attitude to sort it out.

  • Not so much but we make plans together to go out anyway.

  • If you are someone who wants to develop hospitality skills in a proffessional work environment where you can make friends and have a reliable employer look no further.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Greeneking has got their apprenticship schemes down. The online training is informative and interesting without taking too much of your time. The work itself can be hard at the start but over time you get used to it. Dont hesitate to take this opportunity before someone else does!
