  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes going through IT systems and solving problems that may occur with different company's IT servers. I also attend Estio training academy which helps me to develop my skills and bring these back to the workplace. These activities tend to change from day to day and not one is the same.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt all the skills in which I am currently using from BAE due to the fact I have not come from a IT background and have never worked in this area of work before. They have defiantly helped me to do this effectively and I would have struggled without these skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely well structured with everyone knowing what they are going to be doing at least 6 months in advance. They will also ensure that if you do not know what your meant to be doing that they will look into this and get back to you the very same day with something you should be doing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have experienced a huge amount of help from our training provider, this is because I managed to fail one of my exams but they have put a huge amount of support into place to ensure that I am to pass it next time. I would like to thank estio very much for this.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This has definitely helped me 100% before I went into this apprenticeship I knew nothing about software development. The training provider helped me to gain a base understanding about programing and also coding, I needed this in the workplace and it benefited me hugely. You need the skills you gain in the workplace at BAE.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • A few examples of the extra curricular activities that we can get involved in are- Go carting, Five a side football, LGBT club, Christmas party's, summer BBQ and also much more. All these activity's are free of charge and great fun. If you were to start working at BAE I would recommend these activity's to you.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • This is a great apprenticeship provider who will help to develop your skills in your specific area whilst also been very warm and welcoming towards new apprentices. They really make you feel welcome and treat you as a employee not just a apprentice. All the staff members have a huge amount of respect for you.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Ensure that you show confidence and teamwork in your applicant day also ensure that you show that you have or can gain the skills needed for the apprenticeship. You will also need to be good at communicating ensure that you show all these skills on your applicant day. But I would really recommend if you see any job at BAE go for this because if you don't have the skills they will help you to obtain these skills.
