  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm a consultant just like those on the grad schemes, but my focus tends to be more on fresher, alternative and engaging pieces of work. I work on projects like any other, doing the day to day consultant tasks, but on the whole it's fun, engaging and challenging in a good way

  • I enjoy it every single day I do it

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's very well organised for the most part. But it really got better over time. As with anything it has its pain points which come up here and there, but they usually get resolved quickly. We have to remember EY is a huge organisation, so getting something done fast internally can be slow, but they're still good at it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot. I get a dedicated career counsellor, apprentice leader and they're generally very transparent and communicative. I've also made many senior friends who simply want the best for me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • At first it was somewhat limited, in that everytime something was arranged it always fell through. But in the last 5 or so months it has dramatically improved. I not only have pastoral care from them, but also have a personal support officer on top. Very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As someone who loves tech, having the qualifications and the skills on top to inform my work is super helpful. I can be technical yet work well with people, and have the knowledge to back up anything I do. Everything else grows with experience, and it gets better and better the more I work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are several networking events and I've been to most of them The grads mingle with the apprentices, we have whatsapp groups and extra curricular groups together internally. The training provider is the same, we have socials, events, support and learning days.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I just think it fosters a really great individual. You come out polished, professional and with your head screwed on. You have qualifications. You have experience, and above all you look back at how much you can get done in such a short period of time, and you enjoyed every second. The people really take this place from great to excellent. Couldn't ask for more.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Listen to the advice they give you. It's seasoned and invaluable. Follow their tips, act on the, learn from them and carry them forward.
