  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job mainly involves providing world class customer services. Day to day my job involves me contacting my customers and trying to discuss their IT infrastructure with them. I will call my customers day to day and try and discuss upcoming things that they will have going on and try and sell them more IT.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new skills while being at Softcat. Softcat are always putting on new training sessions so I have learnt lots about all the different vendors that we work with and how the products that they sell work. Also, my customer service skills have improved massively since being at Softcat.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme. Its the perfect balance. Remit comes in once a month to teach us new skills which is great purely because they come in, teach us, and then go away for a month to allow us to try the new skills out. We get plenty of time to practice the new skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised. XXX, the man who runs the Remit side of our apprenticeship, sends all the invites to our calendars very early to let us know that we have training on a specific day so we don't plan anything else for that day. The invites also detail what the session will be about so I know what topics will be discussed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes Softcat put weekly football on for people to get involved in, as well as pool after work, darts, Playstation, FIFA and a host of other activities that all the employees are encouraged to get involved in. Softcat also actively encourages its employees to join the office gym and try and stay in better health and shape.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Softcat to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Quite simply, its the best company to work for. They firmly believe that if their employees are happy, we'll do our job much better so their 2 main aims are to have excellent customer service and excellent staff satisfaction and the two work so well together and combine to make each other work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • Do it! Apply! You will not regret it. At the very worst you will make lots of new friends and at the very best you will do that as well as become very successful in a fantastic work environment and will never stop developing skills. Its a fantastic place to work.
