  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in financial services assurance in the wealth and asset management service line. day to day I work on auditing funds and only after a few weeks I was given my own funds to audit rather than just doing small parts on others. I have been out to a few client site to do work. I feel I have some responsibility and it is appropriate for the role I am in

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • sometimes the work is not of great interest as it is the basics that just need to be done however the their has been interesting work for example traveling down to london for some merger work. the team around me is great and even though they are all busy they are will always answer my questions. EY is definately a great working environment and cant really fault it. The work was differnent to what i expected. I thought it was be easier work to start off with than it was, and therefore found the content of the job plus revising for exams hard at first. however since then i have learnt to manage my time and as a result i have enjoyed the job more.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • Being the lowest role in the office i expected to not be valued very highly. however i have a good relatioship with my manger and colleagues and have been given similar responsibities, at times, to second and thrid years for example during merger nights in london, which i would never have expected as a result i do feel valued by EY and my colleagues

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the training for the assurance is good for example there was a weeks training in london before we started in the office to give us an iddea of our job and the role we will play in the office and we have a buddy system therefore general work questions we can ask them. i would say the training for the job is excellent and there is always someone to aks for help.h However the organisation for the external exams is not on the same level, as school leavers we often get left off email lists and therefore have to ask the grads to know where we are meant to be and what we are doing.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • there is class room based learning for the majority of the content plus all the learning is online in videos and through notes, giving us various ways to revise and learn the content which is helpful. I am also dyslexic and ICAS, the training provider, has put the appropriate support in place for my needs.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • EY capped my hours at work so i worked 7.5 hours day instead of longer hours for my exam at the begining of December however and a day off for revision the week before the exam, again my colleages who have done these before are always there to answer questions on the material
