  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We had to learn the different characteristics and roles of team leader, the importance of the team leader, their responsibilities, personality, professionalism. Also a class on how to give a good constructive feedback using boost and biff, best ways to coach team Grow, and how to develop and maintain good relationships with different personnel.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved many of my skills the main one being communication with people I just met and communication through presentations, meeting new people and getting to know them helped me to gain confidence in speaking to people more openly. Presentations such as the dragons den helped me to improve my presentation skills. Also learnt better ways of time management and organisation.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme very much because it has developed me more as a person working toward my future. Improving skills like communication, team leading, team work, organisation, time management and other life skills. As well as speaking to EY staff and oarteners helped to look at the bigger picture of the careers in accounting. The business experience was very good because I learnt something new.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I deal quite valued by EY because of the amount of effort they put into help me achieve my best and work towards the CMI qualification. Also because I was chosen to be part of this programme shows that EY value me. They gave advice and guidance for different aspects in life that we may face such as to do with bank accounts, savings and networking. They encouraged me in business experience to get involved with the different tasks.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program was very well organised because each day lead up to the next and was useful for tasks completed on later days, as well as completing the log book as each log corresponded to a topic we were taught during the day. It was not all head down work but broken up and very friendly so that we could talk and get to know each other more and ask questions about EY.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We received a lot of support from the training providers. Whenever we had a problem or question that we asked they were more than willing to answer and explain to us the different topics and ideas that we were discussing. They also got involved within our group discussions and helped us to understand whatever we didn’t and was very supportive. Their presence was quite enjoyable.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They were quite helpful because we did not have access to all the files or could not find evidence for different documents which meant that we gonad to ask them for it and they were more than willing to do so. They always had a positive attitude and were very friendly in welcoming us and helping us to complete the job at hand.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was good because it met our requirements for travel and food with money to spare which was good.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I did not have much time outside of work because the job was morning till evening and the only time I had was on Saturdays which I spent inside.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it is a really good experience to have as many work places today look for experience in the field or any type that could help in the field of work. It is very enjoyable and you get paid and you get fed which is also a bonus, you get to meet new people, make new friends. Get to understand the career and improve skills such as team leading.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • For the application and interview process be honest, answer the questions with enthusiasm, show them that this will be good for you. Ask as many questions as you can because you might not get the chance later. Be comfortable, be open to ideas help others. Use the mentor that is given to you.
