RSPCA Vet and Animal Training Review

Our days would be split into two. From the morning until lunchtime we would be working at the front with the receptionist and it was an animal sanctuary as well as a vets so we'd have to input the persons name to let the vet know they were here. The second part of the day was spent in the animal sanctuary and we would feed and pet the animals in roder to give them company nad allow them to paly.

I have developed my people skills because sometimes you get anxious customers as there pet may hvae undergone surgery or an operation but sometimes you get really nice customers who come in just to talk and see the animals and they may be a little old so you can go round talking to them and being friendly but at the same time do your work as a receptionist whilst other customers aren't any less faltered by your help.

I absolutely loved it! It would have been nice to have been paid but I think the benefots that I received for free is so great, over that maybe we should pay seeing as rspca is a charity and the work that they do goes beyond just helping animals because we also help the people that come in and the place was such a cheerful and charismatic place, you can feel it in the atmosphere!

I felt very valued. Even though I may seem younger, the custoemrs that came in were still very nice adn treated me sas if I were working there which felt great. Moreover, I learnt all the ropes to the different ticks of the animals like which ones love cuddling and playing about hwereas which ones would rather be left alone and just have so company from time to time.

It was quite organised and structured since when I would come in in the mornings there'd be a place of a seat ready and waiting for me at reception that everyone would know is mine and people would ask how my evening was and they'd remember if I was up to doing anything last night. In the afternoons, the people at the back at the sanctuary would be like "yes [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], hello!" and that's just very sweet.

I got loads of support since if I messed up like I may have over fed an animal they all understood that it was my first time and that I'm still new and we all just have a nice little laugh at it which made me feel very comfortable with everyone. Furthermore, I was able to learn more about being a vet and undertsnading animals' behaviour too which was really good.

More support was received here than anything else. Abolsutely enjoyed it so much even when I didn't quite udnertsnad some vet terms I just enjotyed hearing animal talk and listening to the vets speaking since it was really great and the vets and reception ists did their best to teach me lots of stuff for example had to use other softwares on the computer.

I wasn't paid but I was still more than happy with the learning things that I had received. you cant put a cost to having good inter personal skills and being able to communicate well with people so that you can get your message acrooss which Is something really beneficial that I'm going to take away from from the week. also, it was really nice to make new friends adn honestly I wouldnt want to be paid for that now that I think about it.

There wasn't really but this kind of office isnt soemwhere where you would expect tjhat anyways so I didn;t really mind since it wasn't some kind of accounting job in an office where everyone can leave at the same time and go to the pub as sometimes there'd be emergency operations ot be had at closing time and people would be a tad worried so uou cant just leave and have fun its just not appropriate.

It is such a cute chairty and the animals are absolutely paramount to the community you can see that from the offset. we were also able to give tours nad have dogs and one day even a cat at the receptionsit so that you could bond with the customers more because they love giving them a pet and asking about them and it also helps to give them a home too.

Make sure you're nice and bubbly when speaking on the phone to them and don't be too persistent as it may put them off and make for an awakrd encounter when you do meet. But most of all enjoy yourself. It's based on the happiness and love for animals so have fun!
