  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday we would meet with our manager and he would go through with us the things that we would be doing that day. This would also include daily interactions with other people that are also working for the company and any projects that they want us to complete in order to help them finish any admin work or small little works that they want done that is easy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • One of the skills that I;ve definitely learnt is independence since you have to do these works and little courses on yuor own so you can;t really rely on anyone as much since you have to work on your own. Moreover, the interactions with other staff is usally formal so you can increase your interpersonal skills and how to be professional and formal with people in the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I deffo enjoyed the programme a lot since it helped me to learn about the sector even more than just researching the information online since its a real life life example and is so helpeful. Moreover, it definately met my expectations because I thought we'd be doing just a little work but we were given quite a lot of trust and responsibility within the company.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • I definately felt valued since the appreciation from the managers and the boss that we would see and speak to every day in the morning was really helpeful and he would constantly motivate us adn mentor us which helped us to feel like we were one of the team and we were really wanted from the company adn the firm were always smiling at us and made us feel like we belong there rather than just being work experience interns.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was really srructured and organised since we knew what we were doing everyday. However, I would have appreciated some sort of timetable or being told a day before what we woud have been doing the next day in order to prepare or at least know if we need to be wearing professional clothes if we were going to be client based in order to be more organised and ready for the day before we start.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As said before, we would speak to one of the bosses that was available that day and we would talk about how our days have been and if we want to do anything else in aprticular in the sector in ordeer to help us icnrease our other skills such as business or going into meetings in order to help us better and develop our meetings structure and formal professional contacts and networking or contacts.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We received a lot of support from our employer since they were always asking about us from other colleagues and making sure that we were settling in well and nicely and making sure that we were getting the most out of the experience in order to help us to better our skills as much as possible in the short time that we'd be there sp that we can learn as much such as interpersonal skills like how to conduct meetings and how to network with people or have social outings with the company.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • We were only paid a little bit but it wasn;t too much that helped to pay off the travel costs of actyally getting to the company office everyday which was slightly annoying but totally worth it due to the experience and skills that I've learned in those weeks. Although, a few extra money could have come in handy sicne they didnt give us food either which was also annoying lol but as i said totally worth it and some people would have paid to have such an amazing experience like i did.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • To be fair, I know some companies that go out with each other or things like sports day or to spoons just for fun or can be provided by the company in order for the collaeagues to meet new employees that are also working in the company. Although, from what I've heard there's only the odd party such as the christmas office party but that doesn;t really count as getting to know other people in the company which is a slight downside but I guess it makes sense for the work that they do in the company.

  • 9. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It was definitely an interesting and dynamic place to work since everyone was really friendly and kind to those of us that were interns in the work experience in the past few weeks which was really nice and refreshing to know that we were welcomed rather than having to wake up knowing that we weren't really wanted so I deffo think that this company cares about you sicne the attitude is obvious.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • I would encourage you to be yourself and be passionate about the company so before you apply or before your interview remember some facts about the company which will show that you care about the company and you're not just using it as a way to earn some money but you're really excited and really belive that this company is the place for you to work specifically.
