  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The first two weeks were about learning and developing new skills so we had different tasks such as presentations. The third week was a business experience set in Barclays where applied a lot of the skills we learned when we had to work on spreadsheets and slideshows individually and as a team

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I earned a CMI level 2 qualification in team leading which is useful and stands out on my CV. I also developed my communication skills as there was a lot of team work needed for many of the tasks. Furthermore, I also learnt how to communicate formally with the clients and how the working world works.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed it very much as it allowed me to socialise with my peers which was interesting as well as being able to ask any queries we had about the career we had in mind or the path that might be suitable to us. This was beneficial as I had a lot of questions about these kind of topics.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I feel pretty valued because every staff member was so friendly and open to any questions you had or help you needed. It was a very comfortable environment because of this. Also, I was involved just as much as everyone else making me feel like an equal and that taught me a lot.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well organised in terms of having two weeks on learning skills, and the third week allowing us to be independent and be in that environment. However, I do feel like the hours were very long and exhausting and that they could have put more icebreakers in between the tasks.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I received a lot of support within EY such as if i needed any help or didn't fully understand something, they would be willing to repeat it again. Also, with this programme you also receive a mentor for ten months, in that time period you can arrange meetings or email them with things like your UCAS application.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer was just as willing and took time out to check up on me every now and then ensuring that i had understood what was given to me. Also, the mentor answered any questions i had which were about more than just working at EY and made me see some things in a new light.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was a bonus to the experience since it taught me so many different things and provided me with a more developed skill set, it went beyond my travel, living and daily costs but it was very rewarding as the journey to the programme was quite exhausting involving busy trains with lots of people so that was nice.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, as i am still involved with EY for a further 10 months, i have access to different events which are created for us based on things we showed interest in. There's also a personal mentor which means I always have someone to ask an specific question about this kind of sector if i would like head this way.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it was just a really nice experience overall which allowed me to see how work at EY was like and also let me ask any questions I had. They also were open to discussing how they began working here and why they liked it. Also, I made some like minded friends which was pretty cool too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would say that try and have an open mind because there are more options to reach your goal and also ask as many questions you have regarding literally EVERYTHING, it was genuinely so useful. Lastly, try and enjoy it and socialise with people so that the three weeks go faster.
