  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During the week we were set projects which allowed us to find out what we would be doing if we were to start an apprenticeship with EY. I worked in audit so we were set tasks like, research SOX and given financial statements that we had to read through and analyse. We were given lots of support and had daily interactions with our counsellor and other members of staff in the office.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to learn the basic tasks of an auditor and what I should be looking for in a set of data. For example, we had to fill out a board minute review and check lease agreements for a client.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my time with EY during the business academy. The team were so friendly and welcoming which made the experiance more enjoyable. The culture of the EY office was much more informal that I was expecting with all the staff being so friendly making the office a confortable place to work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • You can tell that the staff are a top priority for the company. I definitely felt valued by the team in the Southampton office.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured you have set inductions and meetings that you must attendnwhich explains how the week is going to be run and how to use certain equiptment. All of the inductions were thorough and clear.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I recieved so much help from my training provider. Every question that I asked would be answered as quickly as possible along with an explanation which was really helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There has been such good support with videos sent to us that help talk us through certain skills that someone would require if they went on to do an apprenticeship at EY.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As I was driving in I did have to pay both petrol and parking as the office had limited spaces which was expensive.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, I liked that we were invited to socail events both before we started the work experiance and then afterwards as well.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it seems like the staff who work here are happy with a relaxed atmosphere which I found inviting. The staff were also so friendly and welcoming.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • To make sure that you do some deeper research into the sector that you are applying for and go to any events that the office holds as it will help with your networking.
