  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At M&G my experience was central on getting to know how people got into the industry so I would have a catch ups everyday where I could ask questions about different people's job roles, I also went around shadowing other people as they worked. I was privileged to join some meetings in the team and write down anything I didn't understand and ask them later. Finally, I had a project to do a presentation on everything I learnt in my time at M&G.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My communication, public speaking and confidence definitely improved as I was pushed out of my shell by group activities and other things like the graduate networking lunch.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Going into a new environment was interesting. I didn't feel like I had as to do much a few times however I did enjoy asking workers what they did. Everyone was very friendly and sensitive to the fact that I had little knowledge of the industry and helped me learn more. I feel that it met my expectations in terms of developing my skills although I didn't always feel like I had something interesting to do.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I used the outlook system that I was introduced to and this helped me organised my day and understand what I should be doing at what time. When wasn't anything on my timetable I didn't feel there was something organised for me to do.

  • 9. Would you recommend M&G to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommended a friend to go to M&G because it's the perfect way to explore a interest in finance even if you don't know to much about the industry. Also, the environment is very warm and you will settle in well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • The advice I would give is to do previous research on the industry so that you can ask questions on relevant things. Also, I would say to never feel like your less than anyone despite you age or qualifications and remember to stay confident.
