  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is team manager, this is basically an assistant manager so I'm in charge of day to day running mainly of the shop floor, supporting the store manager and colleagues dealing with customers, deliveries, legalities, colleagues etc making sure the store is safe, legal and has a great shopping experience for everyone.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of skills during my apprenticeship mainly on challenging difficult colleagues and dealing with difficult situations because this was a key area of my own PDP which I had already identified and the workbooks and workshops have allowed to understand and experience things which will make these easier to handle believeing that I can now do this with ease.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme extremely well because it allows me to have some downtime from the regular chaos and learn things which I wouldn't always learn by doing my day to day job therefore I feel it will benefit me massively in the long run both in my personal life and career

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Co-op?
  • I feel extremely valued by the coop as I have worked here for 6 years now and have developed, learnt, grown as a person and a colleague and my peers above me have shows great support and gratitude in everything I have experiences over these years. Any issues are dealt with and supported by the business and that's why I love working here

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well organised and structured because it's set it in easily understood workbooks and you are given the time to complete with strict deadlines that you can therefore work towards, you always have a coach to contact who will always help and the internal management such as area managers always offer support. Emails for days out are sent well in advance so you can plan ahead and we learn things starting easy and get more complicated making it a smooth journey and great transition

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a huge amount of support from my trainer learn direct, hannah always has her phone and contact number available aswell as email which gives me great calmness in meaning if I ever struggle I can always have the confidence that she will be there for anything I need which is incredible for anyone going through a stressful career which is 100 miles an hour

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The coop show me a lot of support from all areas of the business Store manager always gives me the time of day and takes me into work on my apprentice days to ensure he is there when I do it in case I need some help with the Ebook or information The area managers always message me and see how I'm getting on offering constant support and contacts of anyone who could be beneficial to contact Learning facilitators always hand out contact details and ensure that I can call or email them for support aswell as regular one to one contact meetings

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary does meet my costs as I manage quite well however I feel there is a lot of colleagues in the business who are paid a lot more than myself in the same position which can make me feel demotivated and looking at other career paths potentially however I put my heart and effort into getting where I am and continue to do this in the hope I can get to where I need to be

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is a lot of opportunities such as community involvement and work with the area doing tasks for great causes which is how the coop should be and why it is a great place to work because it gives something back to the people of where we live and love therefore there is sone great opportunities to do these things

  • Yes

  • Ethical business that gives something back to the consumers and customers of the local area rewarding them with the 5 and 1 A great career pathway for someone to build a career with the right support you can really develop yourself and others in the coop progressing from the bottom as seen by a lot of internal development which is excellent because it rewards loyalty and is excellent


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Be positive, be kind and be yourself always because this business is difficult to work for however it is extremely rewarding and great for anyone to be part of a team, self motivated and customer service The coop really has its members at its heart so to give these customers the best experience you have to work extremely hard however you will reap the rewards and it will always be worth it xx
