  • 4. How valued do you feel by Anchor Trust?
  • I feel very supported. My first placement was very different to where I am now. I didn't settle in at all and felt the staff didn't understand my role. However now I am in a different place and it couldn't be more different. I really enjoy working here. My managers are very appreciative of me and give me lots of praise and encouragement. My advisor also supports me well.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organised and well structured. I am kept informed of any changes and have been given lots of opportunities to attend training and improve my practice. I take my 1 day a week off the job training and am supported with this by the workplace team; who are very understanding.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We have just changed providers and the new assessor seem very nice; she has been in and supported me to move forward. I am disappointed i have had to effectively re-start some modules, but glad i can use others towards my final qualification.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I do struggle with my wage; although i know Anchor do pay more than some other employers. I can claim back travel costs, so I am not out of pocket but it is still hard to make ends meet sometimes. I usually walk to work but know if i need a bus or taxi (if weather is bad) I can claim it back if i keep my reciepts.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I haven't attended anything as yet, but i do know Anchor take apprentices to schools etc. for events and my advisor has said she will take me to one when there is something in my area. I do attend away days as part of the programme and sometimes my training is away from the home so I travel for that.

  • 9. Would you recommend Anchor Trust to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Good support and guidance given. Clear instructions on what to expect and they stick to this. I would easily recommend to my friends, if they can get the right placement for them. Some of my friends might want to do business or customer service and I know these are available as well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Anchor Trust?
  • Complete the application in full and be honest. Be yourself at the interviews. The away days are sometimes scary but once you meet the other apprentices you will be fine, it is always scary to do something you haven't done before. Push yourself hard.
