  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a maintianence apprentice i am required to work with the maintianece personel on plant and help fix any equipment that breaks or service equipment before it breaks to enable priduction to run for long periods of the day. I am responsible for completing tasks given to me and have been given many projects where i have had to redesign soemthing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills over the apprenticeship and i am developing them as i go through working on equipment and by attending training courses. I have learnt how to dissasemble equipment safely and in a way that makes it easier to put the equipment back together. I have also gained qualifications like a btec and i am working towards a competency qulification and HNC

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working on the machoinery and learning on the job. It is good to feel like you are part of a team. It met most of my expectations and i enjoy going to placements where i have learnt.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • I feel like a valued member of staff and people are always willing to help apprentices. It is nice to be part of a team and be resposible for equipment. When you have completed a job you sometimes get recognition depending on what it was.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is structured into 4 years and you have to find time at home to complete a lot of the work as you are too busy to do some of it in worktime. When studying if you are struggling they try to find ways of helping with the work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • You recieve support when it is asked for and get guidance as to what you should be doing. They have reviews every few months to keep you on track and have a good attitude and want you to do well. If you have an issue they are willing to help you through it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • You recieve a lot of help from the people you are on placement with and they are keen to give you responsibility. the managers help motivate you with insentives and regular reviews to keep you up to date.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • we are really well paid and this helps support the costs of living and driving to work. As part of the job you can get a car from the scheme which is a really good deal for young drivers and allows you to drive a nice car arouns.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are carears events you can attend and you can work on a weekend if there is an interesting job on. They run a family day where you can bring family in to look around every few years. The company also gets you various discounts from well known brands which is good like gyms.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • i would reccomend them as they are a good company, you can also learn whilst being paid which is an insentive to do well. it also provides you with a good platform to work from and gain skills that yoiu never thoiught you had. It is also useful to use those skills at home.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • When applying answer the questions properly and thorughly, and have something to talk about like a project you completed. When completing the assesment centres practice on the online practice before attempting.
