  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Audit associate, taking part in planning, interim and year end audits, as well as completing statutory procedures. We go out on client site for the majority of our working year, so client interaction is important to us. We are always responsible for our own areas of work, but more often than not we are surrounded by our team who can answer questions we may have.

    7/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my skills with using the internal analytics tools, as the push to use these in audits has been high this year. I am also up to date with all of my internal training and am looking forward to going on the annual training trip later in the year.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The teams I work with are of the highest quality, and make every day enjoyable. I also enjoy the work we perform, and the culture in which we perform especially as there has been an increase in the aim to reach a good work life balance. I enjoy my job.

    8/10

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I feel appreciated by the people I work with. There is less internal recognition in the year (rewards) but I think that the opinions of my peers is more important.

    5/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured in terms of training and team hierarchy. Where it is less organised is the studying aspect, as there is less clarification on exam timetables etc.

    5/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We do receive support from our training provider, with numbers and emails we can use to get in touch with someone. Every time I have spoken to them they have been clear and helpful.

    8/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my employer - again as said above the studying side of the programme is not as focussed on so this is an area of improvement.

    5/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I do not think my salary meets costs of living in Bristol. I appreciate that I am a school leaver, so do not have the same qualifications - therefore justifications for having the same pay as the graduates doing a similar programme who I am in line with in terms of my role at work.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work, with lots of social events and clubs to join in on.

    7/10

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I enjoy the work I do at EY

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • The EY office is quite young, which is not what I first expected when getting the job, so not as daunting as you first think!
