  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I my role depends on whatever area I am based in; for instance at the moment I am in lacquering so I will receive car sets that need to be lacquered. After this is completed they will then move onto the next process and eventually end up in the car.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far I have learnt many new skills within this apprenticeship, to list a few I have learnt how to match veneer in different ways, different types of veneer. In general my knowledge about veneer/veneering has hugely developed so far in my apprenticeship. Furthermore, I have also learnt the art of cabinet making and furniture making.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within my programme I move from process to process on roughly a 6-12 week basis. This schedule is found on an excel spreadsheet and tells us exactly where we’re going to be for however long and where abouts in that process we will be positioned for that time.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, especially within the last few months. The new Rolls Royce Cullinan was officially press released last month which brought around opportunities such as going to Berlin to help out with a press release and many more to come. We have also visited the mini oxford plant which was interesting to see how a company that produce cars on mass worked compared to us.

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because you’re not just working and earning; you’re working, learning developing new skills and meeting new people. Not only that but being an apprentice can lead you into all sorts of amazing opportunities which you wouldn’t be able to do elsewhere. On top on that, at the end you come out with a qualification in whatever course you’re doing and it also sets you up with your career.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Take your time applying, don’t rush into it if you have plenty of time to make sure your application is perfect. If you already think that it’s at its best, make it better.
