  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the operations team for Special Risks at Hiscox, my time is split between supporting the underwriters and working on various different projects throughout my business unit and working with a variety of teams across the globe

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new skills within my time so far at the company mostly around my professional and personal skills and working towards my CII qualification

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program to a great extent as my team is very support of the apprenticeship scheme and the work i need to do around it as well as handing me various amounts of different work to give me the most exposure

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Hiscox?
  • I feel valued at Hiscox due to the work and responsibilities that i have been given which grant me exposure to my leadership team and different people throughout the business. with some of the other work where i support the underwriters i feel valued as they rely on me for certain pieces of work

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well organised due to the fact that we have a set time period to do our exams and we are supported with monthly visits from out apprentice coach where we are given support and varying tasks to help us gain knowledge and experience

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a large amount of support from our training provider with regular monthly visits, email contacts, monthly tasks for us to complete and we also receive specific training days as support for our exams such as a day with our coach and other apprentices to study London Market 1

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive large amounts of support from my employers such as an hour a day to study for my exams, weekly meetings with my manager support from my team members and study days before my exam to ensure that i am prepared for them

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My Salary is well suited to my costs that arise from working in the city, it covers my travel costs which we can also get support from Hiscox to help us out with, there is a subsidised cafe in the building which helps to minimise costs of food.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Outside of work hours contains many different opportunities and social events such as training courses and different communities and committees to join and take part in. we are also given support towards a gym membership to help us keep healthy and active

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Hiscox to a friend as it is a great and engaging place to work with a supportive culture and lots of interesting and unique areas of the business
